The Indian team got caught in the trap of the spin wicket laid for England,
Tom Hartley made the target of 231 runs a dream for the Indian team in
Hyderabad Deccan.
Hartley, who played the first Test, sent 7 Indian batsmen to the pavilion
and England won by 28 runs.
English batsman Ollie Pope, who played a memorable innings of 196 runs for
England in the second innings, was declared the player of the match.
On the fourth day in Hyderabad, England advanced the second innings by 316
runs with 6 out, Oli Pope batted brilliantly, Rehan Ahmed scored 28 runs and
Tom Hartley scored 34 runs to support Oli Pope.
Mark Wood failed to score, Ollie Pope was unlucky and got out just 4 runs
short of a double century.
A 190-run lead in the first innings gave India a target of 231 runs, in
pursuit of which captain Rohit Sharma and Yashwhi Jaiswal laid the foundations
for 42 runs. Then the magic of Tom Hartley's Spain came and one by one the
Indian batsmen were sent to the pavilion.
Joe Root and injury-prone Jack Leach walked 1, 1. Bumrah and Siraj added 25
runs for the last wicket but Hartley dismissed Siraj to give England victory by
28 runs.
For the first time, India suffered a Test defeat at home after taking a
lead of 190 runs in the first innings.
Hartley, who played his first Test, took 7 catches in the innings and 9 in
the match, Oli Pop was named man of the match. England lead 0-1 in the 5 test
series.
